just dont take ppl too serious, there will always be someone screaming "noob" and making you to feel like the worse player... if you let them. Ill call you idiot if you refuse to learn or accept own mistakes, thinking you know all. But as one wise person said: next time you get angry on someone, dont call them noob but neophyte and check their reaction o_O
Thou i agree with the main problem of pvp community - everyone expect others to be the top players, not thinking..hey..maybe...but really maybe...this guy is here for the first time..lets give him a hand.
..and really, gw has the less rude ppl out of all online games ive tried so far.Funny aint it? cheers~

Online games in pvp are ment for people to challenge each other. So mainly everyone is competitive when it comes to pvp.

Its not only the GW community, its how human works, blaming other people is alway the first priority in human nature because its the thing that most poeple see first, other's fault, we'd be lucky if its the other way around.
Advise: all chat windows off if you want to RA.

That's what's frustrating about MMO's: they're an open community. Like in the real world, you have to deal with all sorts of people. Join a good guild. They will be your friends and coworkers in the game. You meet some people who are dicks, and some who will be there for you in a pinch. Stick with your guild and friend's list, and keep the team chat off when you are doing RA. You'll have more fun.
Or just be a mesmer. We love making others cry, and look sexy doing it. Being a good Monk in PvP is no easy task. Those who are, you'll know by name. I'd just rather cast hexes, interrupts, and sigs, and make the other side look like Jerry's kids. That's fun to watch.
Oh, and I nearly pissed myself reading that, Forgotten200! Really, Ghost Dawg, yo be takin' dis sheezy too cereal, yo.

You see the basis of your post there is fundamentaly flawed. Yes it is random but if the players on your side of the team played to a competent skill level you CAN expect to win, unless of course you don't get some sort of healer in your team then 90% of the time you won't expect to win.
The fact that the teams are random is no excuse to be bad. People want to win games, no matter what they play (HA, GvG, TA, RA, hell, even PvE) because losing is not fun, so the arguement "i'm having fun, I don't care if i'm bad" doesn't really apply either. Being good is not mutally exclusive with having fun.
When you're not a good player, yeah, I would never take advice from anyone in RA but laughing at them I would not do because you cannot be certain if they are actually giving good advice or not. If you're a good player on the other hand, laugh away at people giving bad advice, some of the stuff you hear is hilarious. RA actually infuriates me. The amount of truely HORRIBLE players there is staggering and the amount of utter retards is phenomenal. It's different if you just out and out flame someone but when you can give reasons WHY someone is bad and exactly WHAT it is that they are doing wrong and they just reply with "ur a nub cuz u think im baed" makes me want to /FACEPALM and it just gets worse and worse.
Getting back to the original point now. Chances are if you're new to the game then yes you probably ARE bad and it probably IS your fault that your team is dying a lot but because you're new that is to be expected. Even if you do play to 100% efficiency sometimes you will STILL lose because the other team just might have the tools to counter you properly and some people will still flame you. That is to be expected as well, as like I said earlier, there is A LOT of retards.
As a general rule because GW PvP is so competitive and people do want to win, there is a lot of flaming etc etc even if you're good but if you're getting consistently flamed and I mean quite a lot then yeah, you're probably doing something wrong. You just gotta grow a thick skin, learn the game quick and ignore the retards BUT DO NOT ignore advice. You get a lot of bad players that stay bad because they think they are pro and do not listen to good advice.

I actually agree with this pretty much.
I think some people are misinterpreting it though. He's not saying if you're new to the game you should go in and be instantly pro, what he's saying is, expect to be flamed for being bad because people want to win and people expect others to know WTF 2 DO.
Just you know, don't QQ about how other people are flaming you because you're monking and it's your first time playing and everyone on your team is dead. It is to be expected. It's hardly a surprise.
Although I think he could have written it a bit better =P

There's your problem.
Find a guild that isn't full of jerks and stick with them. Don't talk to anyone else unless you absolutely have to. And if you have to, be prepared for idiocy. Either the people will be nice, and you'll have put your guard up for no reason with no harm done, or it'll be deserved and you'll remember why you put your guard up in the first place.
This also works in real life.

You'll get used to it. And if they blame you for their loss, chances are they're bad themselves. Just join a guild that's friendly and stuff and you'll start to like the community.

You're right. People don't want to lose due to inexperience. However, the OP wasn't talking about HA where this is a valid argument in a team either holding halls, or not. RA is where he/she had the issue.
People playing the competitive side of PvP, who desire a team that doesn't include players who are "Still Learning", shouldn't be in Random Arena's to begin with where the OP stated he/she was in. It's where the bulk of those "who are still learning" are at and those who stake claims of knowing this game inside-out should be well aware of the experience levels they will encounter in Random Arena's. Noone can play the oblivious card on this.
Getting flamed and harrassed for intentionally greifing a team in RA is one thing. Getting flamed and harrassed for trying to learn PvP, in the Arena's designed for players to do just that - Learn - is another. It happens far too often and most often from highly experienced players who should know full well there are players with little, or zero experience, in Guild Wars PvP.
So...I'll flip the coin...highly experienced players are an unwelcomed penalty to the new player who is trying to learn PvP when it's in the first learning stage of competitive PvP in Guild Wars; Random Arena's.
@Akeido; Don't take it personally. We all started somewhere. If you enjoy the competition, keep at it. Whether it's your fault, or not, none of us learn without taking the defeats with the wins. It's how we all become better at it.

This is a perfect example of 75% of Pve and 90% of PvP like Azazel mentioned.. The best thing to do is bow to their mighty omnipotence and just reply with "ROFL Srz Bsnz".. I myself like to play the game for fun. Hence it is a GAME so it should be FUN. Now granted, i have gotten very good at the game over the years so i am not in the same shoes as you, but i also understand that different people are different. If you want to enjoy the game i would suggest finding a circle of friends (you can add me if you want and id be happy to assist). Mostly just brush off the asshats like Jiggles because they have turned GW into a Job not a game. He obviously jumped right into GW as an "elite 1337" player while everybody else started off as a Newbie.
Oh yeah my first character was a Mo/R who wielded a bow. and this was my build most of the way through prophecys, i didn't change my build until i got to Droks.
[read the wind][hunters shot][power shot][healing breeze][orison of healing][charm animal][comfort animal][resurrect]
nextime you run in to someone like Jiggles or any other douchebag just remember that this is most likely what he looks like.

Well I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the code of all MMORPGS is blame the healers.
But don't give up yet. If you are new and are jumping into Pvp then losses are to be expected. Go search for pvxwiki online and get some builds off there. They aren't always the best, but if you are new than they are most likely better than what you are using. Read some monk guides on Team Quitter or here. Learn what an aegis set is.
Eventually you will get better, then you will be farming glad points like crazy because part of the reason healers get blamed is because they are so important. And in RA when we see a monk we (halfway competent players) say "Yay!!! Here come some Glad points!!!
Or just be like me and don't monk in pvp
BUT
If you quit can I have your account?

The Guild Wars community has its moments of greatness and moments of foul and wickedness. Back when I hosted events, I saw the bright side of it. Unfortunately, the foul side shows more often than the latter.

Well i would say that you should learn to take your punishment like a man. I PvP'ed a bit as a war, i was horrible - i couldn't kill anything when i started. Gradually i got better and started playing other professions.
Then i decided that i wanted to become a good monk because that's what people wanted the most. I was bad, people flamed me, they told me i had bad technique, whatever. I kept joining teams and trying to improve, asking better players (you can usually see) for advice or to tell you what you're doing wrong etc.
That's how i learned to play properly, sometimes i'll fool around in AB with guildies and friends running bad builds for fun but 90% of the time when i play properly people compliment me on my monking and are very friendly. Of course there are some idiot's that will call you bad while standing in Savannah heat while a dervish is pounding on them etc but you know who those people are so just tell them what they're doing wrong or /ignore.
Sorry for the rambling but what i'm really trying to say is just practice, don't be scared to ask for CONSTRUCTIVE advice and ignore those giving you bad advice or just insulting you.
Also i find quite often that if somebody is telling you that you're bad or whatever, if you ask them what you did wrong - alot of the time the guy will actually help you if you seem to genuinely want to learn.
In hindsight i am glad that people raged at me and told me to gtfo because i was terrible, it gave me incentive to practice and get better rather than think i was the best monk in the game (as 90% of all beginner's do).
So just work hard and eventually you'll be the one telling people what to do.

Throwing snowballs is serious buisnness.
Also, with that attitude, it's people with your way of thinking that ruin the learning experience of those trying to get into PvP, whether it's for the first time ever, or if they're trying to learn a new proffession.
I think the elitists forget they were once newbs once also, it shows when they use their elitism to look down on newbs just for trying to learn how to play.
If you can't handle the fact, in a gametype where your team is picked randomly, that not everyone may be of your skill level then I suggest either stop playing that gametype or stop playing PvP altogether.

I don't speak for everyone, but when I was new and got into a group I sat down, shut up, and listened to directions. In arenas like snowball you try to make sure the group knows what to do. If a new player chooses to ignore directions, then clearly they're not 'trying to learn how to play', and are causing trouble for the group.
If a new guy is following or asking for directions and still getting beat on for no practical reason then that's different altogether (though still understandable, to me. It's not their responsibility to play mentor).

Couldn't agree more. If you shut up and look and listen to people, you will learn more.
1. You don't bug people.
2. They don't get interrupted/distracted.
3. They get more awesomeness to show.
4. You all win more.
5. Morals are up 300%
6. You train hard and become The Jedi Knight.... Oh, wait. But you get the idea.
